Dr Martinez-Salamanca earned his MD degree, from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain. He then completed his residency program in Urology at the Gregorio Maranon Hospital in Madrid-Spain. Upon completing his fellowship studies at the Cornell University Department of Urology (New York, NY) he pursued and gained his European Ph.D (Doctor Europeus) “Cum Laude” from the Universidad Autónoma Madrid in 2011 on the dissertation “Survival and Perioperative Predictive Model in Patients with Renal Cell Carcinoma and Venous Extension"
Dr. Martínez-Salamanca has a profound commitment to research. His interests are broad and include: erectile dysfunction outcomes after radical prostatectomy, stem cell therapy, peyronie´s disease, renal cell carcinoma with venous involvement and prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment including prostate fusion biopsy and image guided therapy. In fact, this extensive work propelled the foundation by him and collaborators of the “International Renal Cell Carcinoma Venous Thrombus Consortium” that currently includes 23 institutions around the world. Under his leadership this consortium has produced over 25 analysts on this critical topic being either presented or published in top scientific journals.
He is the author of over 105 publications in urology as well as contributing chapters to several medical textbooks. He served as International Associated Editor (2008–2014) of Archivos Españoles de Urología and currently serves an Assistant Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Also served from 2009, as Editor I, Chief of the ESSM (European Society for Sexual Medicine) Newsletter. He is also reviewer of the following publications: European Urology, Journal of Urology, Urology, British Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, Asian Journal of Andrology, Urologia Internationalis, International Journal of Impotence Research and Journal of Sexual Medicine.
